About the position

The DevOps Engineering Manager at Ventura Foods is responsible for leading a team of DevOps engineers to enhance software deployment and operational processes. This role involves defining and implementing best practices for continuous integration and delivery, ensuring system reliability, scalability, and security. The manager will collaborate with various technology leaders to design security best practices and oversee the deployment of applications across multiple environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of DevOps engineers in designing and building the DevOps practice.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative environment aligned with project goals.
  • Design, build, and implement secure automation solutions for production environments.
  • Mentor and develop the careers of team members, focusing on automation skills.
  • Help prioritize tasks and remove roadblocks to ensure sufficient testing coverage for releases.
  • Direct the development of the DevOps practice to improve developer experiences.
  • Oversee the deployment and maintenance of applications across Linux, Windows, and Azure/AWS environments.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate security and reliability into the software development lifecycle.
  • Lead incident response efforts and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.
  • Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and compliance tasks related to IT operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • 7+ years of experience in environment management and software release and deployment, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong background with deploying workloads to Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • In-depth knowledge of DevOps tools and technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and Ansible.
  • Experience with designing and managing DevOps pipelines using GitHub and ADO.
  • Proven experience in leading DevOps teams and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Deep knowledge of SDLC methodologies (Kanban, Scrum, Iterative Development).
  • Ability to travel up to 10% is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree is highly desired.
  • Experience in the CPG/Foodservice industry is preferred.
  • ERP experience (i.e., JDE EnterpriseOne, SAP, Oracle) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of integration platforms (i.e., iPass) is desired.
