About the position

The DevOps/Kubernetes Engineer position is a contractor role focused on collaborating with development teams to implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for Java applications. The engineer will be responsible for containerizing applications, deploying them across various environments, and managing Openshift clusters. The role emphasizes establishing a Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery culture and troubleshooting automation issues to enhance production operations.

Responsibilities

  • Help cultivate a Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery culture
  • Establish an automated DevOps release management pipeline focused on enhancing ongoing production operations
  • Troubleshoot delivery automation issues and find practical solutions that move projects forward in a timely manner
  • Develop CI/CD specific KPIs to ensure delivery performance is tracked against expected delivery timelines
  • Manage multiple delivery pipelines assisting the development teams where necessary while ensuring high quality solutions
  • Help manage workloads across private and semi-private cloud environments
  • Manage and administrate portions of network-based load balancer environments, including access points to new microservice mesh compute environments

Requirements

  • 4+ years' DevOps Engineering experience
  • Experience with Kubernetes and service mesh
  • Experience with Openshift, including maintaining, patching, and monitoring clusters
  • Experience with Jenkins or Gitlab CI/CD pipelines
  • Solid understanding of container-based management systems
  • Solid *nix based administration skills
  • Experience with building and deploying containers to a production environment

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Red Hat OpenShift or SUSE Rancher
  • Experience configuring and deploying telemetry solutions like Logstash, Prometheus, or Data Dog
  • Experience with cloud-based solutions
  • Ansible Automation experience
  • Proficient with a scripting language such as Bash or Python
  • Administrative knowledge of SSL certificate lifecycle management
