About the position

GovCIO is seeking a DevOps Lead to manage a team of DevOps Engineers for a modernization project aimed at enhancing the Kiosk Gravesite Locator software across National Cemeteries. This fully remote position involves overseeing infrastructure, deployments, and security requirements while ensuring the development of a mobile application that mirrors the kiosk functionality.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the DevOps Team on a modernization project for Kiosk Gravesite Locator software.
  • Oversee infrastructure build and maintenance, deployments, and DevOps processes.
  • Perform daily infrastructure as code updates.
  • Manage code deployments in all environments.
  • Participate in design and code reviews to ensure alignment with architectural goals.
  • Document DevOps processes and maintain DevOps platforms.
  • Create and implement solutions for infrastructure and security requirements.
  • Identify needs for build automation and design CI/CD solutions; maintain GitLab pipelines.
  • Implement DevOps tools and technologies.
  • Test new systems and applications.
  • Automate key security processes.
  • Create efficient and secure organizational solutions.
  • Consult on DevOps requirements from various application partners.
  • Create reusable solutions and patterns for CI/CD pipelines.
  • Disseminate CI/CD best practices and solutions.
  • Ensure service uptime and response time SLAs are met.
  • Build or maintain CI/CD building blocks for development teams.
  • Design action plans to address CI/CD platform shortcomings.
  • Participate in bridge calls to address problems promptly.
  • Troubleshoot and fix issues in the DevOps domain.
  • Assess management concerns and provide solutions or escalation.
  • Align with SDLC processes and service management principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 8-12 years of experience or equivalent experience.
  • Comprehensive technical expertise in various DevOps toolkits including Docker, Helm Chart, Artifactory, Jira, Sonarqube, Nexus, Kubernetes, Terraform, and GitLab.
  • Knowledge of Docker/container technologies.
  • Experience setting up DevOps in an AWS Cloud environment.
  • Familiarity with DevOps Automation tools like Terraform and GitHub Actions.
  • Knowledge of API Security, Container Security, and AWS Cloud Security.
  • Experience with security automation and machine learning.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly at different organizational levels.
  • Collaboration skills to integrate security throughout the SDLC.
  • Familiarity with information security frameworks and best practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with VA and/or other Federal Agencies.
  • Understanding of the VA Veteran-Focused Integration Process (VIP) project management methodology.
  • Experience working in a Scrum/Agile environment.
  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.
