About the position

BAE Systems is seeking an experienced DevOps Lead who will be responsible for shaping a customer organization's DevOps strategy and implementation. This effort will be in support of a contract tasked with designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining onsite and cloud-based enterprise IT solutions for a Counterterrorism intelligence customer in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Successful Candidates will coordinate the efforts of product development teams with that of operations teams to streamline the development process and build and evolve an automated, secure, and scalable continuous delivery pipeline with high-quality, innovative product releases to mission customers. The ideal DevOps Lead will have a broad technical background, a solid understanding of applicable analytics, and experience in producing effective solutions. They must be able to recommend and engineer solutions from conception to deployment. This role is hands on and fully integrated within a team of other subject matter experts. The ideal candidate embraces the concepts of servant leadership and being an agent of change, as part of a larger team. Additional Responsibilities include: Leading the design and integration of DevOps tools and technologies for deployment, monitoring, and operations of mission systems software products. Working with application teams to help them adopt continuous build, inspection, testing, and deployment approaches. Participating in all aspects of DevOps Engineering and promoting industry standard methodologies in DevOps Engineering. Helping to configure and monitor DevOps performance. Ensuring maximum uptime and optimal performance for mission customers in the Production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Shape the customer organization's DevOps strategy and implementation.
  • Coordinate efforts of product development teams with operations teams to streamline the development process.
  • Build and evolve an automated, secure, and scalable continuous delivery pipeline.
  • Lead the design and integration of DevOps tools and technologies for deployment, monitoring, and operations of mission systems software products.
  • Assist application teams in adopting continuous build, inspection, testing, and deployment approaches.
  • Participate in all aspects of DevOps Engineering and promote industry standard methodologies.
  • Configure and monitor DevOps performance to ensure maximum uptime and optimal performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, systems engineering, or related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience working in an operational environment responsible for the development, O&M, as well as client support of large-scale enterprise applications.
  • 5+ years of experience utilizing Agile software development methods.
  • 8+ years of IT experience including at least 5 years of software related DevOps experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with various DevOps tools (e.g., Jira, Maven, Jenkins, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, GitHub, BitBucket, Docker, etc.).
  • Experience developing Infrastructure as Code.
  • Experience building software or solutions using PHP, Bash, Perl, Ruby, Python, or similar programming languages and technology stacks.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Experience solving difficult/complex problems and leading people through change.
  • Experience utilizing testing practices and frameworks including automated testing suites, unit testing, and end-to-end and user-acceptance testing.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS)-Certified Solutions Architect or Developer, Associate, or preferably Professional level.
