About the position

The DevOps/Platform Engineer III at Forward Slope Incorporated is responsible for designing and implementing innovative technologies for automating, integrating, and delivering containerized web applications and services specifically for the Department of Defense. This role involves collaborating with a team of professionals to sustain mission-critical software systems that support U.S. Navy operations. The position offers flexibility in work arrangements, including on-site, hybrid, and remote options, and includes opportunities for professional development and a balanced work-life schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement technologies for automating and delivering containerized web applications and services.
  • Collaborate with professionals to sustain mission-critical software systems for the Department of Defense.
  • Utilize containers and orchestration configurations to deploy software using microservice architecture.
  • Develop security-hardened container images to comply with DoD operational standards.
  • Create automated CI/CD pipelines to streamline software development operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or equivalent.
  • CompTIA Security+ Certified (or able to obtain within 30 days).
  • 6+ years of DevOps experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Rancher).
  • Experience with container orchestration tools (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Helm).
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (Ansible, Vagrant, Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Experience with CI/CD automation tools (GitLab, Jenkins, AWS Code Build, Azure Pipelines).
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
  • Skills in automation and scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell).
  • Knowledge of cyber security practices (Active Directory, HBSS).
  • Experience working in headless RHEL environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active U.S. security clearance or ability to obtain one.
  • Experience with data pipeline tools (Apache NiFi, Kafka, Databricks, MinIO).
  • Familiarity with cyber security tools (OpenSCAP, Snyk, JFrog Xray, Anchore).
  • Experience with secret management tools (HashiCorp Vault).
  • Experience in cloud computing infrastructure (AWS, Microsoft Azure).
  • Full-stack software development experience (Java, .NET, JavaScript, SQL).
  • Utilization of Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket).
  • Experience with test automation frameworks (Selenium, Cypress).
  • Experience configuring OIDC and OAuth applications.
