About the position

Forward Slope Inc. is a fast-paced global engineering company with a great reputation in the Department of Defense industry for over 20 years. We currently have multiple openings for DevOps/Platform Engineer III. This position has needs for on-site, hybrid, and remote work environments with ideal candidates being geographically located in San Diego, CA. Typically, on-site work will be 3 days per week. This position has the option to work a 9/80 schedule, which is a compressed work schedule, with alternate Fridays off. This position may have an opportunity for foreign travel if desired.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement innovative technologies for automating, integrating, and delivering containerized web applications and services for the Department of Defense (DoD).
  • Work with highly talented professionals and subject matter experts to design, implement, and sustain mission-critical software systems that provide US Navy warfighters with the tools and resources for successfully planning and executing missions.
  • Use containers and orchestration platforms and configuration tools (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenShift, Rancher, Helm) to deploy software using microservice architecture to support Navy DevSecOps initiatives.
  • Develop security hardened container images to comply with operational DoD compliance.
  • Create and maintain automated Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to streamline daily software development and cybersecurity operations.

Requirements

  • Currently hold an active U.S. security clearance, or able to obtain one
  • CompTIA Security+ Certified (or able to obtain one within 30 days)
  • Demonstrated 6+ years of DevOps experience with:
  • Containerization (e.g., Docker, containers, etc.)
  • Container orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenShift, Helm)
  • Infrastructure- and Configuration-as-Code (e.g., Ansible, Vagrant, Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • CI/CD automation tools (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins, Tekton, AWS Code Build, Azure DevOps Pipelines, etc.)
  • Linux operating systems (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) in a headless capacity
  • Automation and Scripting (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell, etc.)
  • Cyber security practices (e.g. STIG, host hardening, etc.)

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or equivalent
  • Data pipeline tools (e.g., Apache NiFi, Kafka)
  • Cyber security tools (e.g., OpenSCAP, Coverity, SRM, OWASP ZAP, Snyk, JFrog Xray, Anchore, etc.)
  • Secret management tools (e.g., HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience with:
  • Cloud computing infrastructure or development (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, GCP, etc.)
  • Full-stack software development (e.g., Java, C#/.NET, JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL)
  • Utilizing Atlassian suite (i.e., Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) or equivalent (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitLab, GitHub, etc.)
  • Test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress)
  • Configurating OIDC and OAuth applications
