About the position

Leidos is seeking a DevOps Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide mission-critical system support to our customer. This role will involve close collaboration with development teams and other technology stakeholders to maintain, develop, and support both legacy and new products within an Intelligence Community (IC) enterprise in an Agile SAFe environment. The DevOps Engineer will work collaboratively with software engineering teams to deploy and operate systems effectively. This position is crucial for automating and streamlining operations and processes, ensuring that the systems are efficient and reliable. The DevOps SME will be responsible for building and maintaining tools for deployment, monitoring, and operations. Additionally, the role includes troubleshooting and resolving issues across development, testing, and production environments. The successful candidate will support software deployments, manage cloud infrastructure baselines, and ensure the operational availability of production systems. This position requires a proactive approach to managing, building, configuring, administering, operating, and maintaining all components that comprise the DevOps environment. In this role, the DevOps SME will define enterprise Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) processes and best practices, codifying these practices across the enterprise. The candidate will also develop and maintain scripts to automate tool deployment to an AWS cloud environment and other related tasks, as well as scripting and maintaining build environments. Working with project teams to integrate their products into the DevOps environment will also be a key responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Supports software deployments, cloud infrastructure baselines, and operational availability of production systems
  • Managing, building, configuring, administering, operating and maintaining all components that comprise the DevOps environment
  • Defining enterprise Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment processes and best practices
  • Codifying DevOps best practices across the enterprise
  • Developing and maintaining scripts to automate tool deployment to an AWS cloud environment and other tasks
  • Scripting and maintaining build environments
  • Working with project teams to integrate their products into the DevOps environment

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience setting up one or more of the following tools: AWS CloudFormation, Jenkins, Ansible, Maven, Gradle
  • Demonstrated experience working with two or more of the following tools: GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Nexus
  • Demonstrated experience working within a software development team and supporting developers and developer activities
  • Candidate must have an active TS/SCI with polygraph
  • Candidate must have MS and 15 or more years of prior relevant work experience or PhD with 13 or more years of prior relevant work experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree in science, technical, or engineering discipline
  • AWS Associate Certification (Developer, Solution Architect, or Sys Ops Administrator)
  • AWS Professional Certification (DevOps Engineer or Solutions Architect)
  • Demonstrated experience with languages including Java, Python, JavaScript, Ruby, PHP, and Unix shell scripting
