About the position

We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps/SRE Consultant to join our team for a one-year contract. This position is available for local and independent candidates who can work on a W2 or 1099 basis, as we do not accept C2C arrangements. The role is primarily remote with a hybrid model, requiring the consultant to be in the office once a month, with locations in Durham, NC, or San Jose, CA. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with various Linux distributions, particularly RHEL and CentOS. A strong understanding of shell scripting, filesystems, and utilities is essential. Additionally, the candidate should possess knowledge of distributed computing and have hands-on experience with container orchestration frameworks, specifically Kubernetes, both on-premises and with Rancher. Familiarity with Kubernetes objects is also required. Cloud platform expertise, particularly with AWS, is a must. The consultant should have experience with ONTAP storage solutions, including NFS and iSCSI disks. The role involves creating and supporting automation scripts using shell, Ansible, or Python to facilitate infrastructure deployments, validations, and monitoring, thereby enhancing operational efficiency. Experience in scheduling monitoring scripts using cron and Airflow is necessary, along with proficiency in monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Apica, and Grafana. A solid understanding of databases, including both SQL and NoSQL databases, is also required. While not mandatory, experience in building CI/CD pipelines will be considered a significant advantage. The consultant will also be responsible for incident handling and problem management, ensuring that operational issues are addressed promptly and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Handle incidents and manage problems effectively.
  • Collaborate with teams to improve operational tasks and processes.
