About the position

As a DevOps/System Engineer at ManTech, you will play a crucial role in maintaining data files and control procedures for a system of networked computers or for a single group of microcomputers linked to a host workstation or mainframe. Your responsibilities will include ensuring system security and data integrity, assigning passwords, monitoring resource usage, and backing up files as required. You will collaborate with management to define requests for information, requiring a specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise. You will interpret internal or external business issues and recommend best practices while solving complex problems and taking a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. Your role will also involve analyzing user needs, developing system requirements, and evaluating alternative designs through feasibility studies. You will be responsible for developing technical documentation and guiding system development and planning, preparing system engineering management plans, and system integration and test plans. Interaction with government entities regarding problems, issues, or conflicts will be a key part of your responsibilities, as well as supporting verification and monitoring the technical quality of the systems you work on.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze user needs, concept of operations, and architectures to develop system requirements.
  • Analyze system requirements, evaluate alternative designs, and conduct feasibility studies.
  • Develop technical documentation.
  • Guide system development and planning and prepare system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans.
  • Interact with the Government regarding problems, issues or conflicts.
  • Support verification and monitor the technical quality.

Requirements

  • 20 years of systems engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university. 5 additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • Experience with Puppet/Ansible.
  • Experience with Bash/Python/Ruby.
  • Experience with Git/GitLab.
  • Experience with RPM Packaging (spec).
  • Experience with VMware/KVM.
  • Infrastructure/Hardware Knowledge.
  • Networking experience.
  • Experience with Docker/Podman.
  • Familiarity with structured data such as JSON/YAML/XML.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in architecting, deploying and general administration of Splunk including infrastructure planning, data collection and comprehension, development and integration, configuring data inputs and forwarders, data management, creating/managing user accounts, and general troubleshooting and monitoring.
  • Cloud experience.
