About the position

Innova Solutions is seeking a dedicated DevOps Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team in Tysons Corner, VA. This full-time, direct hire position offers a hybrid work environment, requiring 2-5 days a week onsite. As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a crucial role in managing our enterprise's IT infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps practices, which are essential for supporting critical business functions. You will be part of a multi-discipline team responsible for the design, implementation, integration, and support of our enterprise IT platform, which encompasses both secure cloud-hosted and on-premises environments. Your responsibilities will include researching available technology options and evaluating their functional, performance, security, and interoperability characteristics. You will collaborate with system architects and lead engineers to maintain and enhance the architecture and design of our IaC solutions. Additionally, you will design, develop, and maintain technology-specific automation modules for network and systems infrastructure, data storage, messaging, and cybersecurity components. Your role will also involve maintaining and improving our DevOps infrastructure, including source code repositories, deployment pipelines, and related components. You will be tasked with planning, evaluating, and executing capacity optimization, updates, upgrades, and other lifecycle activities associated with our solutions, as well as troubleshooting functional and performance issues. Creating and maintaining detailed and accurate system documentation, including design and configuration plans, design diagrams, and operations and maintenance plans, will also be part of your responsibilities. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous improvement in our IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Research available technology options and evaluate their functional, performance, security, and interoperability characteristics.
  • Collaborate with system architects and lead engineers to maintain and improve the architecture and design of IaC solutions.
  • Design, develop, and maintain technology-specific automation modules for network and systems infrastructure, data storage, messaging, and cybersecurity components.
  • Maintain and improve DevOps infrastructure, including source code repositories (Git), deployment pipelines, and related components.
  • Plan, evaluate, and execute capacity optimization, updates, upgrades, and other lifecycle activities associated with the solution.
  • Troubleshoot functional and performance problems.
  • Create and maintain detailed and accurate system documentation, including design and configuration plans, design diagrams, and operations and maintenance plans.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in systems engineering, implementation, and support functions.
  • Advanced knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps architectures, processes, and best practices.
  • Extensive experience with automation frameworks (e.g., Terraform, Ansible), libraries, and development tools (e.g., Visual Studio).
  • Experience with source code management systems (e.g., Git), build servers, artifact repositories, and related components.
  • Working knowledge of application lifecycle management systems, such as Atlassian Jira, Azure DevOps, GitLab, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with MS Windows platform and services, including Active Directory/EntraID, Group Policy Objects (GPO), and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).
  • Working knowledge of MS Azure and cloud services, including compute, database, storage, network virtualization, and security services.
  • Understanding of network infrastructure, concepts of operation, and protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, Syslog.

Nice-to-haves

  • Microsoft Certified Professional/Systems Engineer certification is strongly desired.
  • Security+ or CISSP certification is strongly desired.
