About the position

The Collins Aerospace Engineering Solutions directorate is seeking a DevSecOps Architect with a passion for problem solving and delivering solutions that provide compelling gains to the consistency, efficiency, and productivity of product development efforts across the enterprise. This role is pivotal in managing, architecting, and designing Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) processes for the Engineering Services directorate within the EE&S organization. The ideal candidate will have experience working with a diverse team, familiarity with Agile methodologies, and a strong drive to deliver on customer commitments. This position can be performed remotely or at any Collins domestic location. In this role, you will provide direction and guidance to internal organizational teams and partner with peer organizations on DevSecOps tools standardization and engineering support. You will be responsible for automating the provisioning of cloud environments through pipeline engineering using tools such as Cloud Formation, Terraform, Helm, and Puppet. Additionally, you will research, analyze, design, develop, and support high-quality pipeline automation workflows that align with business and technology strategies. Collaboration with software developers and operations engineers will be essential to improve the software delivery process, ensuring excellent customer service and world-class support for internal and external engineering customers. You will also coordinate activities between technical teams to promote the ongoing adoption of DevOps practices and drive DevSecOps adoption within the organization, advocating for best practices and continuous improvement. Engaging with the Enterprise Digital Product Life Cycle team and SBU partners will be crucial to understand and integrate available services, while interfacing with internal Collins customers to address their support needs effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the management, architectural design, and solutioning of Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) processes.
  • Provide direction and guidance to internal organizational teams and partner with peer organizations on DevSecOps tools standardization and engineering support.
  • Automate the provisioning of cloud environments through pipeline engineering using tools like Cloud Formation, Terraform, Helm, and Puppet.
  • Research, analyze, design, develop, and support high-quality pipeline automation workflows appropriate for business and technology strategies.
  • Work with software developers and operations engineers to improve the software delivery process.
  • Provide excellent customer service and world-class support to internal and external engineering customers.
  • Resolve conflicts between timeline, risk, and scope independently, raising significant issues to senior management as needed.
  • Coordinate activities between technical teams to ensure ongoing adoption of DevOps practices.
  • Drive DevSecOps adoption within EES, advocating for best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Interface with Enterprise Digital Product Life Cycle team and SBU partners to understand and integrate available services.
  • Interface with internal Collins customers to understand their support needs and provide reliable applications for the engineering community.

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience, or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience.
  • 8+ years of Information Technology experience for a large technology company, preferably in a platform team.
  • Proven hands-on experience utilizing Cloud DevOps pipelines for automating, building, and deploying microservice applications, APIs, and non-container artifacts.
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud technologies, preferably 5+ years AWS/Kubernetes experience or container-based technology.
  • DevOps Tool Proficiency: 5+ years of experience with DevOps CI/CD tools such as GitLab, Puppet, ArgoCD, Helm Charts, Ansible, Artifactory or similar.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency with observability tools like Datadog and open-source observability ecosystem (Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Experience in developing scripts or automating tasks using languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, Perl, Ruby, etc.
  • Understanding of foundational cloud security principles.
