About the position

The DevSecOps Automation Engineer role at Peraton involves collaborating with development teams to enhance deployment pipelines through automation. The position focuses on designing and developing infrastructure as code (IaC) and maintaining CI/CD processes while ensuring security best practices are integrated throughout the development lifecycle. The engineer will also mentor team members and drive continuous improvement in software delivery processes.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with development teams to automate and streamline deployment pipelines.
  • Design and develop infrastructure as code (IaC) using Python, Kubernetes, and Ansible.
  • Maintain and enhance CI/CD processes using GitLab, Jenkins, and other standard DevSecOps tools.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot system performance, ensuring high availability and efficient resource utilization.
  • Ensure security best practices are integrated into the development lifecycle, including compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Research and implement new technologies and tools to drive continuous improvement in the software delivery process.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to fellow team members and promote a culture of knowledge sharing.
  • Document technical procedures, configurations, and the architecture of deployed solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements, set priorities, and communicate progress and challenges.
  • Design and develop systems to automate repetitive tasks, improving productivity and efficiency.
  • Address technological flaws, defects or errors; troubleshoot issues as errors occur; enhance the efficiency of human staff or other systems.
  • Simulate and test the system to ensure proper functionality.
  • Implement and enforce monitoring and quality assurance processes.
  • Supervise the automation processes regularly.
  • Understand computer programming and software development.
  • Mentor and coach teammates.
  • Use Agile development methodologies.
  • Expert use of automation tools such as Python, PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible.
  • Collaboratively interact with customers including senior management, data scientists, and end users.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience with a BS/BA; 3 years with an MS/MA or 9 years of applicable experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Desired experience with Red Hat AAP, IDM, Satellite.
  • Experience with Red Hat Ansible.
  • Familiarity with VMware Suite: VCF, vSphere, ESXi.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools like Docker, Nexus, Kubernetes, and GitLab.
