About the position

As a DevSecOps Engineer for the Ground Missile Defense (GMD) Weapons Systems (GWS), you will play a crucial role in enhancing the capabilities of our nation's defense against ballistic missile threats. The GWS is integral to the Missile Defense System, processing data from various sensors to identify and characterize incoming threats, plan defensive solutions, and launch intercepting missiles. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, where you will be exposed to a variety of projects and customers, contributing to the development of next-generation strategic deterrent capabilities. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the unification and automation of processes that enable software development across the entire GWS system. Your expertise will be essential in combining code, application maintenance, and management, all while adhering to the principles of DevSecOps. You will need to have a strong understanding of the development lifecycle, including the various transactions that occur within pipelines, scanning tools, and deployments. Your proactive approach will involve actively interfacing with DevSecOps and engineering teams to optimize processes and ensure consistency in tools and standards. Additionally, you will create and maintain fully automated Continuous Integration (CI) build processes, which will require you to write builds and deployment scripts. This position requires a commitment to working in an in-person, closed-area environment 100% of the time, ensuring that you are fully engaged with your team and the projects at hand. Responsibilities

  • Drive unification and automation of processes for software capability development across the GWS system.
  • Combine code, application maintenance, and application management.
  • Understand and apply DevSecOps culture, philosophy, practices, and tools.
  • Interface with DevSecOps and engineering teams to optimize processes and ensure best practices.
  • Create and maintain fully automated Continuous Integration (CI) build processes, including writing builds and deployment scripts.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience, or a Master's degree and 0 years of related experience.
  • DOD 8570 IAT Level II certification (ex: Security+ CE).
  • Experience with cloud technologies and platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform) and development, security, and operations in the cloud.
  • Experience with Agile practices and principles to deliver high-quality products and services.
  • Current/Active US DoD Secret Security Clearance required.
  • Experience with programming languages such as C++, Java, Python, and/or Perl scripts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience deploying and maintaining applications on Kubernetes clusters.
  • Experience with PaaS (Platform as a Service) infrastructure.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, and Nexus repositories.
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Git, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket.
  • Knowledge of branching strategies, gated commits, and source-controlled management.
  • Programming and scripting experience in a UNIX environment (C++, Perl, Python, Bash, Ruby, Shell).
  • Programming and scripting experience in a Windows environment (PowerShell).
  • Experience with IaaS (Infrastructure as Code) scripts in Terraform and Helm.
