About the position

BAE Systems is seeking a skilled DevSecOps Engineer to join our team in San Diego, California. This role is pivotal in developing automated pipelines for virtual environments and supporting automated build, test, and release deployments. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in the design and implementation of a data fabric for an integrated networked enterprise application utilizing cloud resources. As a DevSecOps Engineer, you will gain hands-on experience with developer productivity, virtual and cloud-native applications, and container orchestration. A solid understanding of micro-service architecture, container development, orchestration, service messages, and security is essential for success in this position. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, writing, and delivering Infrastructure as Code software to enhance the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of our network. You will build automated DevOps pipelines using tools such as GitLab and AWS, and develop jobs for deploying various artifacts that constitute an application in a container-based environment like Docker. Your participation in the development of advanced CI/CD processes will be vital to support deployments, and you will work extensively to deploy applications on Kubernetes clusters. Additionally, you will maintain services by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health, while automating repetitive tasks to eliminate toil and drive consistency and repeatability. This position also encourages innovation by leveraging new cutting-edge technologies and tools, and requires collaboration across domains to maintain applications in sync and operational. This position operates in a hybrid work format, allowing for a combination of collaborative in-person work and independent remote work, providing flexibility in your work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, write and deliver Infrastructure as Code software to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of the network
  • Build automated DevOps pipelines using tools such as GitLab and AWS

  • Participate in development of advanced CI / CD processes to support deployments

Requirements

  • US Citizenship with an active Top Secret clearance is required
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a computer related field plus 4 Years relevant experience
  • Experience using DevSecOps tools such as GitLab, GitOps, Bitbucket, CI/CD Pipelines, Docker, Fortify, Sonarqube, Nexus
  • Experience with Cloud technologies such as Kubernetes, Helm, Chef, Service Mesh
  • Motivated individual with strong problem-solving abilities
  • The ability to engage constructively with peers and technical lead to communicate the technical approach, trade-offs, and technical decisions
  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Highly motivated and able to work well in both team and solo settings
  • Experience with Java and Python
