About the position

BAE Systems is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to develop automated pipelines for cloud environments and support automated build, test, and release deployments. This role is crucial for the design and implementation of a Space Ground mission-focused software cloud application, requiring hands-on experience with developer productivity, cloud-native applications, and container orchestration.

Responsibilities

  • Design, write and deliver Infrastructure as Code software to improve network availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency.
  • Build automated DevOps pipelines using tools such as GitLab and Azure DevOps.
  • Develop jobs for deploying various artifacts in a container-based environment like Docker.
  • Participate in the development of advanced CI/CD processes to support deployments.
  • Deploy applications extensively on Kubernetes clusters.
  • Maintain services by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.
  • Automate repetitive tasks to eliminate toil and drive consistency and repeatability.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation by leveraging new cutting-edge technologies and tools.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph security clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a computer-related field.
  • Certification in CompTIA Security.
  • Experience using DevSecOps tools such as GitLab, GitOps, Bitbucket, CI/CD Pipelines, Docker, Fortify, Sonarqube, Chef/Ansible, Terraform, Nexus.
  • Experience with Cloud technologies such as Rancher, Kubernetes, Argo CD, Argo Workflow, Helm, Terraform, Jenkins, Chef, Service Mesh.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and motivation.
  • Ability to engage constructively with peers and technical leads to communicate technical approaches and decisions.
  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to work well in both team and solo settings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Agile software development.
  • Experience with Kafka, Elasticsearch, Redis.
  • Experience with Docker, Helm, Kubernetes.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, VMware, Azure.
  • Certification in a cloud technology such as AWS Certification.
  • Experience developing/maintaining CI pipeline using tools such as Gitlab CICD, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.
  • Experience developing/maintaining Ansible and Terraform scripts for provisioning servers and deploying infrastructure as code.
  • Experience with setting up and configuring VMs and open-source software (VMWare, Virtual Box, and Parallels).
  • Familiarity with Cyber Security.
