About the position

SAGE Dining Services® is seeking a highly skilled DevSecOps Engineer to join our dynamic Systems Engineering team. As we progress with our cloud-native infrastructure, we need a forward-thinking expert who can both safeguard our systems and elevate our automation frameworks. The DevSecOps Engineer will be essential in integrating security practices with our DevOps processes, ensuring a secure and efficient development lifecycle. This role will collaborate closely with our Systems Engineers to improve our existing infrastructure, ensuring that security is integrated from the ground up. These efforts will directly boost the security and resilience of our cloud infrastructure, protect our campus communities, and maintain the integrity of our services. Our ideal candidate will have the expertise to design and construct standalone security infrastructure from scratch. SAGE's home office is in Lutherville, MD, but this position is fully remote. Candidates must live in the United States and must be authorized to work in the United States and will be employees of SAGE. This is not a 1099 position. Additionally, the person taking this position will be required to travel to the SAGE Home office each quarter. All finalists must complete a technical assessment to further evaluate their technical abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain secure infrastructure practices for Linux and Kubernetes environments, ensuring that every aspect of the system is resilient against potential threats.
  • Develop and integrate automated security tools into CI/CD pipelines, facilitating continuous integration and deployment with an emphasis on security.
  • Regularly perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing, and lead remediation efforts.
  • Stay current with industry security threats and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure that all new and existing security practices meet compliance requirements pertinent to our industry.
  • Implement essential controls and policies to meet these standards while maintaining a strong focus on hands-on security practices.
  • Serve as the primary contact for the security incident response process, develop and maintain incident response protocols, and lead the investigation and resolution of security breaches.
  • Provide training and mentorship on security best practices and tools.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a DevSecOps or DevOps role with hands-on experience in securing Linux and Kubernetes environments.
  • Expertise in security architecture and automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, and GitLab CI.
  • Familiarity with the Bash, Python, and PowerShell languages.
  • Extensive expertise in SIEMs, monitoring tools, and data/metrics aggregation.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey and present complex technical information clearly and effectively.
  • Solid experience in cloud security, with a focus on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
