About the position

The DevSecOps Engineer at Pantheon Data will lead a critical cloud migration project, transitioning applications from on-premise systems to the AWS GovCloud environment for a federal defense client. This role emphasizes integrating security practices into the software development lifecycle, ensuring compliance with federal standards, and automating security processes. The engineer will work closely with development and operations teams to implement DevSecOps methodologies and develop specialized tools for commercial off-the-shelf products.

Responsibilities

  • Architect comprehensive migration plans to securely transfer existing on-prem applications to AWS GovCloud, ensuring alignment with federal compliance standards.
  • Lead the integration of DevSecOps practices throughout the migration process, leveraging GitLab for version control and CI/CD pipelines to automate workflows.
  • Enforce stringent security protocols, conduct regular security audits, and ensure all processes meet federal regulations such as FedRAMP.
  • Design and develop DevOps tools tailored for managing and integrating COTS products within the AWS environment, including custom automation scripts.
  • Collaborate with IT architects, project managers, and software developers to ensure a smooth and secure transition, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of processes, configurations, and compliance measures, regularly updating stakeholders on project status.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years in cloud engineering with a minimum of 5 years in a DevSecOps role.
  • Strong expertise in Java and .NET, with significant experience using AWS services, particularly in AWS GovCloud.
  • Proficient in using GitLab for source control and CI/CD integrations.
  • Demonstrated experience with federal security standards such as FedRAMP and FISMA.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and communicate complex concepts effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer preferred.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and other containerization and orchestration technologies.
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Previous work experience in the defense or government sector, particularly with secure and sensitive projects.
