About the position

The DevSecOps Engineer at Planned Systems International (PSI) plays a crucial role in supporting the U.S. Air Force Unified Platform Software Factory by leveraging agile methodologies and advanced DevSecOps practices. This position focuses on automation, infrastructure security, compliance, incident monitoring, and the enhancement of CI/CD pipelines. The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded engineer who thrives on automating processes and implementing infrastructure as code, contributing to the mission of maintaining global readiness and technological superiority for the Air Force.

Responsibilities

  • Support the deployment, troubleshooting, configuration, and interoperability of systems and software.
  • Manage containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Perform security hardening and performance tuning for EKS clusters.
  • Develop and maintain Helm charts.
  • Optimize Kubernetes resource allocation and autoscaling configurations.
  • Integrate security tools and practices into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC) using tools like Terraform and Ansible.
  • Implement and maintain security controls in accordance with DoD standards such as NIST SP 800-53, DISA STIGs, and the DoD Enterprise DevSecOps Reference Design.
  • Maintain and optimize AWS cloud infrastructure and cloud-based resources.
  • Integrate DevSecOps tools and services to enable automated pipelines that support customer applications throughout their SDLC.
  • Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams and contribute to the development of DevSecOps strategies and roadmaps.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility is required.
  • IA System Architecture and Engineer (IASAE) Level II Certification (CASP, CISSP, CSSSLP).
  • Bachelors in Engineering, Computer Science, or technical degree or industry experience equivalent.
  • 5 years demonstrated experience providing technical guidance to other engineers on automation/build tools, Version Control, CI/CD, CM, and Monitoring tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Hands-on experience in CI/CD, DevSecOps, AWS Cloud Infrastructure, Kubernetes, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Automation for System Administration and Operations.
  • Strong understanding of industry standards and best practices for building services in Cloud-based IaaS/PaaS/SaaS environments.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash or Python.
  • Experience developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC) solutions using tools like Packer, Terraform, Ansible, and Helm.
  • Proficiency in working with Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS).
  • Exceptional communication skills and desire to work in a ‘badgeless” collaborative team environment.
