About the position

We are seeking a skilled DevSecOps Engineer with expertise in GitLab Administration to join our team in Manassas. This position is a contract role with a duration of 12 months. The ideal candidate will be responsible for integrating security practices into the DevOps process, ensuring that security is a fundamental part of the software development lifecycle. You will work closely with development, operations, and security teams to implement and manage security tools and processes that enhance the security posture of our applications and infrastructure. In this role, you will be tasked with automating security testing and compliance checks within the CI/CD pipeline, utilizing GitLab for version control and collaboration. You will also be responsible for monitoring and responding to security incidents, conducting vulnerability assessments, and implementing remediation strategies. Your expertise in GitLab will be crucial for managing repositories, CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring that best practices are followed in code management and deployment. The DevSecOps Engineer will also play a key role in educating team members about security best practices and fostering a culture of security awareness within the organization. You will be expected to stay updated on the latest security threats and trends, and proactively recommend improvements to our security processes and tools. This position requires a strong understanding of both development and security principles, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications in security (e.g., CISSP, CISM, or similar).
