About the position

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to design, implement, and manage DevSecOps software development environments in support of the Sentinel Program for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) under the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC). This role involves collaborating with a team of engineers and IT experts to support agile software development, ensuring security best practices are integrated throughout the development process, and leading strategic initiatives to enhance MTSI's DevSecOps capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Implement automation routines for various repeated tasks with proficiency.
  • Define/create/review/maintain configuration for application deployments, pipelines, services, etc., including the associated required compliance measures.
  • Identify and implement needed alterations/configurations for various NIST and DISA requirements for elevated classification environments.
  • Work within a DevSecOps team, collaborating with other Developers, Security, and Operations, to continuously deliver products and value for the organization and customers.
  • Embrace and champion Agile development processes and adopt modern DevSecOps workflows and practices while providing technical guidance to team members and coworkers on best practices.
  • Ensure that development and software CI/CD uses security best practices throughout the entire process.
  • Identify and mitigate technological or process-related risks impacting development.
  • Set up and manage the development environment, configuring and maintaining various cloud-based services, and managing/maintaining/enhancing CI/CD pipelines.
  • Document various aspects of day-to-day maintenance and bug fixes applied to environmental resources and application deployments.
  • Brainstorm and innovate, where possible, improvements for software and/or data delivery and conveyance.
  • Diagnose problems and develop fixes to implement quickly and efficiently for production incidents to support user-base in complex environments.

Requirements

  • DevSecOps certifications (Kubernetes, Cloud, IaC, GitLab, etc.) and certifications in security (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA) are advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • At least 3 years' experience in container-based technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Experience with CI/CD systems and writing pipelines with tools like GitLab CI, Jenkins, or related technology.
  • Capable of implementing Infrastructure as Code with technologies like Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, or related technology.
  • Expertise in DevOps technologies, concepts, agile methodologies, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge in Multi-Level Security environments that have an ATO and/or C-ATO.
  • Hands-on experience with Helm, Kustomize, ArgoCD, FluxCD, or related technologies.
  • Understanding of Modern programming languages (C++, Python, Java, etc.).
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology (IT), Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Active security clearance (e.g., Secret, Top Secret) required.
