About the position

The DevSecOps Integration & Support Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting node deployment and management for the Depot Integrated Product Team (IPT) at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) of Penn State University. This position involves direct customer interaction, continuous monitoring, remote patching, and baseline update deployment to ensure cybersecurity and operational consistency. The engineer will contribute to establishing a robust Node Management & Support team, essential for maintaining installed nodes for customers.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with customers in a technical role
  • Participate in planning with customers
  • Produce technical documentation to support maintenance of HW/SW systems
  • Deploy patches and baseline updates to remote sites
  • Maintain and manage nodes remotely
  • Continuous monitoring (ACAS or similar)
  • Structure and maintain databases
  • Advanced service-desk functions, trouble ticket fielding and resolution

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with implementation and understanding of Engineering principles in a professional environment
  • Understanding of HW/SW builds, IA hardening and lockdown
  • Experience managing RedHat/Linux systems, writing/maintaining custom scripts
  • Experience configuring routers/switches and dynamic routing protocols such as OSPF/BGP
  • Experience with Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, Bash, Powershell and Python
  • Experience with developing and troubleshooting user interfaces
  • Skilled in Platform management e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, and micro services architecture
  • Experience with software code development to automate run-time environment tools
  • Experience maintaining, configuring, operating and troubleshooting complex electronic computer interface systems and network equipment
  • IAT Level 1 (CompTIA Security + and OS/Computing Environment certification)
  • Strong understanding of security concepts and best practices
  • Ability to represent successful completion of work in Agile Management systems (e.g. Jira, Confluence, GitLab)
  • Proficient in standard computer-based business tools (e.g. Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Ability to capture essential procedural instructions for tasks in a manner repeatable by others
  • Top Secret Clearance

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Palo Alto firewalls
  • Familiarity with Dell Open Manage Enterprise/Redfish API
  • Familiarity with distributed systems like Hadoop, HBase/Accumulo, Spark and Kafka
