About the position

The DevSecOps Software Engineer at General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) will collaborate with a team of software developers to procure, develop, and maintain technologies related to DevSecOps. This role is crucial for supporting the software engineering department in developing software products for the company's product line, ensuring compliance, and maintaining high standards of software quality and security.

Responsibilities

  • Determine user requirements and specifications for software development.
  • Formulate detailed plans for the implementation of software solutions, including program design and resource requirements.
  • Implement design through coding, testing, and documentation.
  • Deploy applications across the enterprise, ensuring cross-platform compliance and resource availability.
  • Maintain code through debugging and updates to adapt to evolving environments.
  • Assist in planning future applications based on advancements in computer technology.
  • Communicate effectively with the software developer group, users, and management, and present technical papers to the wider community.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Observe all laws and regulations while conducting business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems, or related discipline.
  • Two or more years of progressive software development experience with a bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • General understanding of software development concepts, principles, and theory.
  • Experience with AWS Gov Cloud solutions, source code control repositories (SVN, GIT), and continuous integration environments (Gitlab).
  • Familiarity with Linux technologies (RedHat based) and provisioning tools (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet).
  • Experience with package managers (RPMs, Yum, Pypi, pip) and hypervisors (VMWare, VirtualBox, QEMU).
  • Knowledge of containers (Docker, Podman) and related tools (Vagrant, Packer).
  • Experience with web servers (Apache, NGINX) and virtualization technologies (VDI, DAAS).
  • Proficiency in software process automation using scripting languages (Python, Bash, Powershell).
  • Experience developing code in at least one high-level programming language (C#, C++, Java).
  • Ability to understand new concepts quickly and organize work assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Good communication, computer, and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with software development in a hybrid work environment.
  • Familiarity with DoD security clearance processes.
