About the position

The Developer position focuses on working with big data in capital markets, specifically dealing with OTC derivatives and market data. The role requires strong SQL skills and experience in database management, particularly in a Cloudera environment. The developer will be responsible for implementing controls on market data, performing root cause analysis on control failures, and conducting data analysis to identify and fix issues.

Responsibilities

• Involved in the implementation and governance of controls on markets data on Cloudera/big data platform.
• Work with source systems that publish transactions to Cloudera data platform and perform root cause analysis on controls that have failed.
• Engage in day-to-day activities involving complex SQL queries run on Hive/IMPALA DB.
• Run data analysis on controls implemented, identify issues, and implement fixes.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in IT and database/data warehouse domain.
• Strong SQL skills, with experience writing complex queries spanning multiple tables.
• Working knowledge of performance tuning of database queries, including understanding of query optimizer, query plans, indexes, and partitions.
• Exposure to scripting languages like shell scripting and Python is required.
• Strong domain knowledge of OTC derivatives and markets.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with FpML is a plus.
