The Developer, Business Intelligence (BI) will play a key role in Uncommon's innovation efforts to ensure that Uncommon's Home Office, Regions, and Schools have the technology solutions required to accomplish the organization's strategic goals. The Developer, BI will develop an understanding of needs across all levels of the organization and implement new technology and data solutions to Uncommon's most pressing problems. The individual will work closely with other team members, outsourced senior application developers, and owners of the data sources. The Developer, BI, will be responsible for providing access to the data via reports, data extracts, and analysis tools and for coding stored procedures. The individual will need to build an understanding of the K-12 data landscape (e.g. assessments, SIS, standards), and to have the ability to gather reporting requirements, design reports, and release them into production. In terms of product management and development, the Developer, BI will examine and interpret complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights. They will synthesize and translate instructional and business data needs into creative visualizations and tools. The role involves developing, maintaining, and managing creative advanced reporting, analytics, dashboards, and other BI solutions primarily in Tableau, as well as other reporting tools like Superset. The Developer will create detailed, interactive reports, intuitive visualizations, and dashboards that provide actionable insights and support decision-making. They will also develop a perspective on the best way to present statistical information to stakeholders and advocate for that perspective. In the area of data governance, the Developer will implement processes and standards for data quality, including validation, consistency checks, and error handling. They will work with data stewards to ensure data integrity and address data quality issues, maintain a data catalog to document data sources, definitions, and metadata, and facilitate data discovery to promote transparency in data usage across the organization. The Developer will also collaborate with governance teams to align BI practices with overall data governance frameworks. As a subject matter expert and stakeholder representative, the Developer will collaborate with diverse stakeholders to develop new, complex visualizations meant for different audiences. They will help stakeholders understand technical challenges in the database to prioritize investing in holistic solutions. The Developer will partner with instructional, operational, regional, and Home Office teams to develop reports and address data needs, ensuring user adoption of new processes by creating training materials and providing mentorship, guidance, and support to end users of visualizations and data sets. They will act as a point of escalation for issues with visualizations and train the IT Support team to handle common issues. Overall, the Developer, BI will play a crucial role in enhancing the data capabilities of Uncommon Schools and ensuring that data-driven decision-making is at the forefront of the organization’s efforts.
