About the position

First Solar is seeking a Developer II with expertise in ETL, SSIS, and SQL to enhance our data management, business intelligence, and analytical capabilities. The successful candidate will work with our packaged solution standards of Azure and Oracle, alongside Microsoft SQL Server technologies. This role is crucial in designing, developing, and implementing ETL solutions across the First Solar technology landscape through various projects and change requests. The Developer II will monitor and manage ETL environments, proactively improving solutions to enhance performance, scalability, and user experience. Collaboration with IT associates and end users is essential to understand business requirements from a technical perspective, ensuring that all ETL solutions are thoroughly documented and adhere to First Solar's development standards. In addition to developing ETL solutions, the Developer II will provide knowledge and suggestions on data integration within First Solar's enterprise data warehouse. This includes working closely with other developers to manage and maintain the data warehouse's content, performance, and integration. The role also involves collaborating with Architects to design and apply ETL solutions, ensuring that all patches, notes, and upgrades are applied to the ETL infrastructure. The Developer II will undertake analytical activities, delivering outputs that conform to customer needs and agreed standards, while also applying data analysis and modeling techniques to maintain the data structure and its components. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database management, coding, testing, and documentation of programs, as well as experience in identifying user experience and technical environments. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to quality and environmental standards. Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops and implements ETL solutions across the First Solar technology landscape through projects and change requests.
  • Monitors and manages ETL environments and resolves issues.
  • Takes proactive steps to improve ETL solutions that positively impact performance, scalability and user experience.
  • Interfaces with other IT associates and end users to understand business requirements from a technical perspective.
  • Thoroughly documents ETL solutions and adheres to First Solar's development standards.
  • Provides knowledge and suggestions on the integration of data within First Solar's enterprise data warehouse.
  • Works with other developers in the management and maintenance of First Solar's enterprise data warehouse (content, performance, integration, etc.).
  • Works with Architects in the design and application of ETL solutions in support of Critical Design Reviews and New Technology Review processes.
  • In coordination with Architects, applies patches, notes, upgrades, etc. to First Solar's ETL infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of work experience in data warehousing or business intelligence.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent years of work experience.
  • 3 years of experience designing and developing Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) routines at a medium to large scale company.
  • 2 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services or an enterprise ETL tool, such as Azure Data Factory, SSIS or other related Microsoft data loading tools.
  • 2 years of experience in a multi-tiered architecture with languages such as SQL, C#, HTML, XML, etc.
  • Familiar with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) concepts such as web services.
  • Familiar with data warehouse concepts and models using traditional star schema modeling techniques.
  • Demonstrated understanding of fundamental technologies in a Microsoft environment: operating systems, networking, middleware, security, databases, etc.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience with various Microsoft ETL tools.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Data Factory Functions, Logic Apps, Data Warehouse, and SQL Server Blob and Data Lake storage.
  • Experience with Dev Ops and Databricks is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) or Reporting Services (SSRS) is a plus.
