About the position

The Development Accountant at Westbank Corp is responsible for managing various accounting functions related to high-profile multi-use construction projects in Washington and California. This role involves preparing financial statements, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The position requires effective communication with the development team and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review and accurately report on all construction pay applications.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly proformas, bank draws, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Effectively communicate with the development team on budget concerns or overages.
  • Manage contract administration on development projects.
  • Post cash impacts from wires, ACH, etc., and perform bank reconciliations.
  • Manage the full cycle accounts payable for development projects from invoice processing to check writing, reporting, vendor compliance, and research.
  • Prepare year-end 1099 forms.
  • Prepare monthly financial statement packages for corporate and project entities at various stages of development, including financial statements, cash flows, and supporting working papers.
  • Assist in managing cash flow requirements.
  • Coordinate the setup of new properties for project development accounting, including setting up bank accounts.
  • Perform administrative duties including photocopying, filing, and maintaining accounting/contract records.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary Degree and current enrolment in CPA program or completed.
  • Minimum 2 years' directly related accounting experience.
  • Experience in the Real Estate industry is a strong asset.
  • Experience with complex budgets, forecasting, internal transactions, and executive presentations.
  • Superior attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Extensive computer knowledge, including Excel & Sage 300.
  • Ability to thrive in a busy, high-volume environment.
  • Ability to handle conflicting deadlines and prioritize tasks.
  • Knowledge of IFRS/GAAP US accounting standards.

Nice-to-haves
