About the position

The Development Accounting Manager at QTS Data Centers is responsible for overseeing the accounting functions related to development projects. This role requires a blend of strong accounting expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to foster a collaborative team environment. The manager will ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, and the integrity of financial data while mentoring staff and driving process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a high-performing team including mentoring and training staff members and identifying cross-training opportunities
  • Establish goals and objectives for each direct report and monitor their progress
  • Promote a positive work culture that encourages open communication and teamwork
  • Lead the execution and coordination of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and internal reporting
  • Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and resource use
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly accounting close including journal entries and reconciliations
  • Maintain detailed account reconciliations and knowledge of critical account balances
  • Review journal entries and maintain the accuracy of the general ledger, ensuring GAAP compliance
  • Ensure the integrity of data from ERP and reporting systems, including implementation of new systems
  • Support annual financial audits with necessary documentation and explanations
  • Assist in financial budgeting and forecasting
  • Handle ad-hoc projects and additional responsibilities as needed
  • Collaborate with other departments for financial analysis and variance resolutions

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management with an emphasis in Accounting
  • Seven or more years of experience in accounting/financial reporting in a fast-paced environment

Nice-to-haves

  • Ten or more years of experience in accounting/financial reporting
  • CPA certification
  • Two or more years of management experience
  • Experience with Workday or other large ERP systems
