About the position

The City of Chandler Cultural Development Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Development and Communications Program Manager. This full-time, non-exempt position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the cultural landscape of Chandler through various programs and initiatives. The role involves working general office hours, with some evening and weekend work required to accommodate events and community engagement activities. The Development and Communications Program Manager will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing strategies to maintain and increase contributed revenue to support the Chandler Center for the Arts, the Vision Gallery, and satellite community programs presented by the Chandler Cultural Foundation (501c3). The ideal candidate will possess a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration, and will have a strong background in nonprofit management, arts administration, or a related field. This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Nonprofit Management, Arts Administration, Mass Communications, Business, or a related field, along with at least 5 years of recent experience in progressively responsible positions, including a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience. The successful candidate will also demonstrate strong skills in grant-writing, data mining, and strategic prospect development, as well as proficiency in specialized fundraising software. As part of the Chandler Cultural Development Department, the Development and Communications Program Manager will play a key role in showcasing destination drivers in Chandler through various cultural initiatives, including the Chandler Center for the Arts, Chandler Museum, Downtown, Public Art, Special Events, and Vision Gallery. This position is subject to a 6-month probationary period, and a register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee strategies to maintain and increase contributed revenue for the Chandler Center for the Arts and related programs.
  • Manage and supervise staff within the Development and Communications team.
  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies and initiatives to support cultural programs.
  • Engage with community stakeholders and partners to promote cultural events and initiatives.
  • Prepare and submit grant proposals and funding requests to secure financial support.
  • Analyze data and trends to inform strategic decision-making and prospect development.
  • Oversee marketing and communication efforts to enhance visibility and engagement with the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Arts Administration, Mass Communications, Business, or related field.
  • 5 years of recent experience in progressively responsible positions in nonprofit management or related fields.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Nonprofit Management, Arts Administration, Mass Communications, Business, or related field.
  • Three or more years of successful fundraising experience at a senior level in a nonprofit enterprise, preferably in a performing or visual arts setting.
  • Strong experience in grant-writing, data mining, and strategic prospect development.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in specialized fundraising software.
