About the position

The Development Associate for School Engagement at the American Heart Association plays a crucial role in advancing the organization's mission by engaging students, parents, and school administrators. This full-time, seasonal position focuses on promoting heart health initiatives through school programs, specifically the Kids Heart Challenge and American Heart Challenge. The role involves extensive travel to various schools, providing customer service and administrative support, and leading presentations to foster a healthier future for children and communities.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Development team and participating schools with customer service and administrative tasks.
  • Lead school assemblies and presentations to promote heart health initiatives.
  • Provide on-site and remote service to schools, assisting with email campaigns and scheduling meetings.
  • Perform data entry and donation processing in accordance with established standards and policies.
  • Conduct an average of 40 school site visits each week to engage with students and educators.

Requirements

  • Passion for health and wellness, with a focus on engaging youth and volunteers.
  • Experience or aptitude for driving fundraising initiatives in schools.
  • Strong customer service skills and a teamwork-oriented mindset.
  • Effective organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to adapt presentations for a wide range of audiences, from kindergarteners to adults.
  • Willingness to travel locally and overnight, with access to reliable transportation.
