About the position

The Edlavitch DC Jewish Community Center (EDCJCC) is a dynamic organization that engages the community through various programs, including theater, arts, culture, youth and family programming, social justice initiatives, and connections for diverse communities. As part of our commitment to enhancing our fundraising strategies and goals, we are seeking a full-time Development Associate. This role is critical in supporting the Center's mission and will involve working closely with executive and director-level staff to implement annual giving plans and manage our fundraising database, specifically Salesforce NPSP. The Development Associate will join a vibrant community center that is about to celebrate its Centennial anniversary. The position offers opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across various fields and engage in multiple aspects of institutional development work. This full-time role allows for remote work twice a week, with standard working hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Thursday, and 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Fridays. However, occasional in-person work during evenings and weekends will be required. In this position, the Development Associate will be responsible for managing the fundraising database, processing contributions, generating reports, tracking correspondence, and overseeing fundraising appeals and campaigns. The role also includes planning stewardship events, preparing materials for donor meetings, and developing new cultivation strategies. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, initiative, and a strong commitment to the mission of the EDCJCC.

Responsibilities

  • Support executive and director level staff in implementing annual giving plans.
  • Manage fundraising database (Salesforce NPSP), including processing contributions and generating reports.
  • Track correspondence and stewardship efforts between staff and external stakeholders.
  • Generate accurate and timely acknowledgement letters/tax receipts for all donations.
  • Partner with the communications team to oversee fundraising appeals and campaigns.
  • Oversee planning of year-round stewardship events and meetings to cultivate prospective and existing stakeholders.
  • Prepare solicitation materials for successful donor meetings, including briefing memos and funding requests.
  • Develop new cultivation and giving strategies and ideas.
  • Assist with other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of fundraising experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
  • CRM experience (preferably Salesforce NPSP) and strong competency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information.
  • Outstanding organizational abilities and keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate confidently and professionally with various stakeholders.
  • Friendly and flexible team player willing to assist on projects.
