About the position

The Development Coordinator at the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) plays a crucial role in supporting the organization's mission to enhance lives through action, education, and accelerating change in kidney health. This position involves close collaboration with the Executive Director and the development team to plan and execute local development events, ensuring that all logistics are handled efficiently. The Development Coordinator is expected to communicate effectively and support the growth of the fundraising division, which is vital for the foundation's operations. In this role, the Development Coordinator will be responsible for organizing various development events, including kidney walks, signature events, and donor cultivation events. This includes coordinating logistical details such as permits, site selection, contract management, and volunteer recruitment. The coordinator will also manage online fundraising platforms, handle inquiries related to these platforms, and maintain thorough records of all activities. Additionally, the Development Coordinator will assist the development team in preparing reports for headquarters and coordinating donation recognition letters for donors and sponsors. The position also requires leading donor cultivation events, overseeing all aspects from contract negotiations to guest experience. The Development Coordinator will become proficient in using Salesforce to generate donor reports and assist in creating and adhering to event budgets. General office support is also part of the role, which may include logistics for meetings and events, volunteer training, and in-kind solicitations. The Development Coordinator must be flexible for overnight business travel and possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute local development event logistics in collaboration with the Executive Director and development team.
  • Coordinate logistical details for kidney walks, including permits, city meetings, and registration.
  • Manage online fundraising websites and support individual fundraising efforts.
  • Assist the development team in preparing required reports for headquarters.
  • Lead execution of donor cultivation events, overseeing all logistical aspects.
  • Become proficient in Salesforce to generate donor reports as needed.
  • Provide general office support for various meetings, events, and programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of work-related experience in special event planning or fundraising.
  • Experience working with a nonprofit organization is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and database applications.
  • Flexible for overnight business travel.
