About the position

The Development Coordinator at the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) plays a crucial role in supporting the organization's mission to enhance the lives of those affected by kidney disease. This position involves close collaboration with the Executive Director and the development team to plan and execute various local development events. The Development Coordinator is responsible for managing event logistics, which includes kidney walks, donor cultivation events, and other fundraising activities. The role requires effective communication and a proactive approach to support the growth of the division's fundraising efforts. In this position, the Development Coordinator will coordinate logistical details for events, including obtaining necessary permits, managing contracts, and overseeing volunteer recruitment. The role also involves managing online fundraising platforms, maintaining accurate records, and assisting the development team with budget creation and adherence. The Development Coordinator will become proficient in using Salesforce to generate donor reports and will assist in preparing required reports for the National Office. Additionally, the coordinator will support general office activities, including volunteer training and in-kind solicitations, ensuring that all events run smoothly and effectively. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in event planning and fundraising, with a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience. A bachelor's degree is required, along with excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills. The Development Coordinator must be flexible for overnight business travel and have a valid driver's license. Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute local development event logistics in collaboration with the Executive Director and development team.
  • Coordinate logistical details for kidney walks, including permits, city meetings, and day-of event management.
  • Manage online fundraising websites and support individual fundraising efforts.
  • Assist the development team in preparing reports for the National Office.
  • Lead execution of donor cultivation events, overseeing all aspects from contract negotiations to guest experience.
  • Become proficient in Salesforce to generate donor reports as requested.
  • Assist in creating and adhering to development event budgets.
  • Provide general office support for various meetings, events, and programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of work-related experience in special event planning or fundraising.
  • Experience working with a nonprofit organization is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and database applications.
  • Flexible for overnight business travel.
  • Valid driver's license.
