About the position

As an engineering manager on the Revolving Credit Engineering team, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of full-stack web developers. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for building high-quality web applications. Key responsibilities include hiring and developing team members, setting technical direction, managing project timelines and budgets, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of software developers focused on PayPal's Revolving Credit products.
  • Oversee the daily activities of a team of engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.
  • Collaborate with development and other cross-functional teams to streamline development workflows, troubleshoot issues, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges faced by the team, providing support and expertise as needed.
  • Manage the team's contribution to various projects, tracking progress, identifying risks, and adjusting plans as necessary.
  • Communicate regularly with senior leadership and stakeholders, providing updates on project status, potential risks, and achievements.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience managing an engineering team.
  • A strong foundation in software engineering principles and practices, enabling you to effectively guide and mentor team members.
  • The ability to inspire, motivate, and lead a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • The ability to analyze complex technical problems, make sound decisions, and implement effective solutions to drive project success.
  • An understanding of project management methodologies and the ability to effectively plan, execute, and track projects to meet deadlines and deliverables.
