About the position

The Core I/O and Sensors group at Apple is seeking a manager for the Core IO Systems Quality Engineering team. This role involves defining validation strategies, creating detailed test plans, and overseeing the execution of these plans to ensure the quality of software supporting I/O technologies on Apple platforms. The successful candidate will lead a team of quality/test engineers, work closely with cross-functional teams, and drive overall test planning and quality reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Define validation strategies and create detailed test plans for validating software related to I/O technologies.
  • Oversee the execution of test plans and analyze results to ensure quality.
  • Recruit and lead quality/test engineers responsible for testing efforts across shipping and in-development systems.
  • Support the team's test efforts at offshore facilities, including triaging, investigating, debugging, and reporting issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional development and quality teams to build strong relationships and ensure effective communication.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with system hardware or software validation, including experience in a team lead position.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and presenting quality status to cross-functional audiences.
  • Proven ability to work independently and demonstrate cross-functional leadership with good project/time management skills.
  • Solid programming fundamentals in languages such as Python or similar languages.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to coordinate and drive Quality Engineering projects with offshore testers, including issue triage and debug.
  • Familiarity with I/O technologies such as USB, Thunderbolt, or DisplayPort/HDMI.
  • Practical scripting experience for triaging issues, extracting and manipulating data, and streamlining workflows.
  • Familiarity with data visualization and trend analysis tools such as Tableau.
  • Ability to communicate with native Mandarin-Chinese speakers for collaboration with offshore teams.
  • Familiarity with C programming.
