About the position
The Development Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the Chief Philanthropy Officer and the Development and External Affairs Department at Serving Seniors. This position involves managing donor software, processing contributions, and providing administrative support to senior staff and the board of directors. The Development Officer is integral to achieving fundraising and marketing objectives, ensuring effective communication with donors and community partners, and assisting in event planning and grant writing.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support for the President/CEO and Chief Philanthropy Officer.
- Schedule meetings, draft correspondence, and take minutes.
- Maintain and organize Development Department files.
- Conduct donor prospect research as directed.
- Manage donor database and track donor data.
- Process thank you letters for all donors in a timely manner.
- Develop donor reports for senior management and the board.
- Assist with marketing and public relations efforts.
- Support special event planning and coordination.
- Assist with grant proposal preparation and research funding opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in administrative duties.
- 1-3 years of experience in public relations or fundraising environment (preferred).
- Experience with fundraising software (preferred).
- Experience in a nonprofit organization (preferred).
- Proficiency in MS Office programs and Adobe Acrobat.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working within a fundraising/development department (preferred).
- Knowledge of social media communication platforms.
