About the position

As a Development Product Owner I for the P&C Insurance Communications Systems team at USAA, you will act as a key representative of the business on an agile team. Your role involves understanding and communicating business needs, writing and refining user stories, prioritizing work, and guiding technical teams to deliver effective solutions. You will leverage Agile principles and critical thinking to collaborate with business owners and development teams, ensuring that business value is delivered through various delivery methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Work with business and Subject Matter Experts to understand business strategy and vision, writing and prioritizing user stories and features.
• Own and maintain a prioritized work backlog for one or more Agile teams, ensuring user stories are consumable and testable.
• Review and accept output of IT and/or business development to ensure acceptance criteria are met.
• Serve as a direct representative of the business with delivery teams, representing customer perspectives throughout the product delivery cycle.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to develop, execute, and release products in alignment with program road maps.
• Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements and understand needs, measures, and risks for improvement areas.
• Assist with change management and prepare the business for changes, providing metrics for benefits and adoption.
• Execute robust test plans including user acceptance testing and production validation.
• Identify, measure, monitor, and control risks associated with business activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or 4 years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
• 4 years of experience in process improvement, project delivery, or business/requirements analysis.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products and project management tools.
• Experience with multiple technical software delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
• Experience analyzing business requirements and identifying opportunities to streamline processes.
• Understanding of Process Engineering methodologies and Change Management practices.
• Ability to gather business requirements and develop user stories.

• Extensive knowledge of P&C business and products.
• Previous Product Owner experience in an Agile/SAFe environment.
• Experience working on P&C Documents.
