About the position

The Development Product Owner plays a crucial role in representing business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and communicate business needs effectively. This position is responsible for prioritizing work for the execution team, ensuring alignment with business strategies, and managing the development process across various methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that meet customer needs and business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Represent business stakeholders to elicit, understand, analyze, document, refine and communicate business needs.
  • Utilize understanding of customer needs and business vision to prioritize investment and delivery.
  • Work within multiple development methodologies including Agile and Waterfall.
  • Serve as the business requirements expert and manage the work of subject matter specialists.
  • Make day-to-day decisions and provide continual business guidance for the execution team.
  • Prioritize the execution team's work to align with business strategies.
  • Lead and manage activities for completion and documentation of business requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate risks in collaboration with business and IT delivery teams.
  • Escalate issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Engage and influence business stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts.
  • Facilitate, define, and document relevant business processes with stakeholders.
  • Develop metrics to manage and track benefits, adoption, and risks to operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, execute, and release products.
  • Manage, prioritize, and assess the impact of work items including new features and defects.
  • Review and prioritize feedback and new requirements from stakeholders.
  • Prepare the business for change and provide tactics and metrics for benefits and adoption.
  • Assist with coaching less experienced DPOs and team members.

Requirements

  • Experience in Property and Casualty insurance.
  • Experience in Banking.
  • Highly preferred certifications: SAFe, APM, or POPM.
  • 3 years of experience in PI Planning.
