About the position

The Development Program Specialist at the Foster School of Business is a full-time, permanent role focused on supporting the frontline fundraising team to enhance philanthropic support for various initiatives. This position involves coordinating research, managing stewardship events, and serving as a liaison with faculty and centers to ensure effective engagement and compliance with gift policies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational and project management support on key corporate administration, foundation relations, and stewardship operations.
  • Research, organize and prepare stewardship reports and data snapshots; ensuring timely outreach.
  • Ensure corporate interactions and gifts are appropriately recorded in all tracking systems.
  • Serve as liaison in the development of gift agreements and stewardship, ensuring compliance with UW's Gift Acceptance Policy and relevant teams.
  • Organize and manage key corporate stewardship events.
  • Research the philanthropic interests and capacity of corporations, private foundations and organizations and maintain a schedule of potential opportunities, deadlines and projected deadlines for future proposal submissions.
  • Work closely with fundraisers to support the creation of donor proposals, including serving as lead author and providing editorial support.
  • Interface with internal stakeholders to determine funding needs and align partner goals with program needs.
  • Act as a liaison for external companies to manage special funding opportunities for various projects across the Foster School.
  • Maintain a broad knowledge base of school programs, events and centers to accurately advocate on the School's behalf.
  • Collect, organize and maintain the team's library of information on funding and internal programs and update on an ongoing basis.
  • Support team initiatives, including special projects, stewardship efforts and conferences.
  • Collaborate with cross-campus partners on projects and initiatives, as needed.
  • Participate in relevant University Advancement and UW events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree AND three years of experience in operations, program management or comparable experience requiring a similar skill set.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in relationship-building.
  • Self-starter who can balance multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Ability to work efficiently and diplomatically, both in terms of individual work and while collaborating with multiple constituencies.
  • Strong customer service ethic and experience.
  • Professional business acumen with a demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to synthesize complex material and have great attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and employ strategic insights to advance projects and prospect outreach.
  • Comfortable working in a highly computerized environment, including database management, Internet research, Microsoft Office suite, and other tools.
  • Dedication to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.

  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours, as necessary, on short or limited notice.
  • Regular and reliable transportation for local travel.
  • Ability to lift/move 20 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds occasionally for event setup and tear down.
