About the position

At Freddie Mac, you will do important work to build a better housing finance system and you'll be part of a team helping to make homeownership and rental housing more accessible and affordable across the nation. The Enterprise Business Technology Office (BTO) at Freddie Mac enables business operational excellence through the flexible use of technology. The team supports the needs of the enterprise groups, including the chief administrative office, compliance, enterprise risk management, finance, human resources, diversity and outreach, internal audit and legal. In addition to championing and empowering business partners, Enterprise BTO takes steps to improve efficiency and effectiveness across the organization. Our IT Development Tech Lead position is in the Development Factory Group, which sits in the Enterprise BTO. We are a fast-paced team that interacts with all areas of Freddie Mac's business, providing solid experience and knowledge across the IT spectrum. Our team is made up of hardworking individuals who thrive in an exciting work environment and enjoy utilizing their problem-solving skills. The role will act as a Lead on projects, providing technical guidance and oversight to project execution team. The position will also ensure alignment between project activities and accepted scope, negotiate with the business, vendors and other partners on changes to scope. This role will own full end-to-end delivery of software products and will also be responsible for leading team members of varying professional levels. The Development Factory helps provide efficient and rapid delivery for IT scope affecting applications across the enterprise. Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of employees and contingent workers to remediate applications with out of support/legacy technologies and/or security vulnerabilities.
  • Provide direction to keep team on track to complete projects and ensure project goals are met by assigning tasks to team members and timely follow ups.
  • Meet development schedules by ensuring the delivered solutions meet the technical specifications and design requirements.
  • Drive/Lead key technical and architectural decisions for the systems, provide and influence key designing decisions for the technology, infrastructure and configuration of the systems for scalability and capacity.
  • Provide proactive advice and feedback throughout the development lifecycle for prevention and early correction of quality problems.
  • Train and mentor junior staff / team members.
  • Employ extensive professional experience and creativity to resolve sophisticated technical problems.
  • Contribute to design and code reviews.
  • Document lessons learned, help maintain knowledge database.
  • Collaboratively work with all other IT Teams to identify "Win/Win" opportunities and improve efficiency.
  • Championing and influencing technology decisions with business partners, IT management and Team members on matters concerning multiple sophisticated projects which requires the ability to negotiate while maintaining effective relationships.
  • Champion current trends in the industry partnering with Engineering and Architecture Services.
  • Driving technical solutions in alignment with architectural roadmaps.
  • Engage with business users, application owners and other affected parties in the project inception phase to understand application and define remediation strategy and test strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent.
  • 8+ Years of experience in IT industry with at least 4 years in Technical Lead position.
  • Experience with Java development background and having worked on design, optimizations & performance tuning.
  • Excellent understanding of typical multi-tier architectures: web servers, caching, application servers, & load balancers.
  • Hands-on experience on multiple technologies such as Java/J2EE & middleware (WebLogic, Apache, Spring Boot, etc.) technologies in UNIX environment and Scripting languages such as UNIX Shell.
  • Build automation / CICD pipeline integration tools (Jenkins, GIT, Bitbucket, Artifactory, etc.).
  • Relational databases (Sybase, DB2, SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
  • Information and application security including LDAP, certificates, public key encryption, SSH, access credentials, etc.
