About the position

The Children's Institute is seeking an Education/Developmental Specialist for Early Intervention to provide home-based services for children with developmental delays in the Western part of Allegheny County. This role involves partnering with parents and caregivers to deliver individualized early intervention services, utilizing the Home-Based Coaching Model to meet the IFSP goals for Early Intervention. The position requires comfort in providing services in a home environment while maintaining confidentiality and flexibility in work schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule appointments that meet the IFSP guidelines and maximize productivity.
  • Complete all necessary documentation for caseload management, including progress notes, billing sheets, data collection, travel, and attendance records.
  • Facilitate appropriate interactions with families, peers, and other agency professionals to provide a cohesive therapeutic plan for children.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of current practices within the profession, such as assessment tools and therapy approaches, to provide appropriate intervention strategies for children and families.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Intervention, Early Childhood Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, or Family Studies is required.
  • One year of full-time or full-time equivalent experience working directly with preschool children with disabilities and their families is required.
  • Must have a valid PA driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel software is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching, organization, verbal, and written communication skills are required.
  • Act 33/34 Clearances; FBI Clearance.
