About the position

The DevOps Engineer at Knight Federal Solutions will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing production environments using AWS technologies and Kubernetes. This position requires hands-on experience with cloud technologies, a solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle, and the ability to deploy and configure resilient systems. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively to troubleshoot complex issues and enhance the security and capabilities of the platform.

Responsibilities

  • Manage production environments using core AWS technologies such as EC2, VPC, EBS, ALB, RDS, S3, EKS, ECR.
  • Understand and implement all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle from planning to production deployment.
  • Deploy, configure, and operationalize resilient, highly available production-grade Kubernetes clusters.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for cluster orchestration and application deployment using tools like Ansible, Terraform, Packer, Helm, Kustomize, and GitLab.
  • Utilize cloud-native tools to enhance platform capabilities and security.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues across all layers of the technology stack.
  • Communicate effectively in both written and oral formats.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) or CentOS administration.
  • 3+ years of experience with AWS cloud technologies and CLI.
  • Strong understanding and experience with automation tools.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and/or other containerization technologies.
  • Experience troubleshooting DNS, VPN, HTTPS, and networking configurations.
  • Fluency with Bash, Ansible, and other scripting and automation technologies.
  • Possession or ability to obtain 8570 IAT Level II Compliant Certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a similar field.
  • Experience with DevSecOps tools and concepts such as Static Code Analysis, image scanning, GitLab/Jenkins, Nexus, ArgoCD.
  • RedHat and/or AWS Certifications.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and other container technologies.
  • Familiarity with AWS capabilities and offerings.
  • Experience with National Security systems and Air Gapped Environments.
