About the position

The DFA Buyer position within the Department of Finance and Administration is responsible for managing state-level procurements across various commodity groups and services. This role involves creating purchase orders, updating contracts, and providing guidance on procurement laws and practices. The buyer will negotiate with vendors and ensure compliance with state regulations while supporting agency procurement personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Create purchase orders and update DFA contracts in AASIS.
  • Process complex state-level procurements in various commodity and service groups.
  • Provide guidance to agency procurement personnel on proper procurement methods.
  • Review agency specifications and analyze commodity and service markets.
  • Guide agency evaluation committee deliberations.
  • Negotiate with vendors on terms, conditions, pricing, and performance issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, marketing, or a related field plus one year of procurement experience; or a high school diploma plus six years of procurement experience with three years as a buyer.
  • Proficient in Excel and AASIS.
