The DFPC Firefighter (Temporary Aide) Helitack Crewmember position is a temporary role focused on wildland firefighting and related services.   • Work as part of a helitack crew for fire suppression and incident response.
  • Construct firelines and clear vegetation using hand tools and power saws.
  • Perform structure protection and conduct mop-up operations.
  • Assist with ignition operations and operate pumps and water delivery systems.
  • Participate in wildland firefighting activities and all-hazard incident response.
  • Engage in mitigation, fuels treatment, and resource management projects.
  • Maintain physical fitness necessary for strenuous labor under adverse conditions.
  • Assist with training programs and logistics for various firefighting courses.
  • Qualification to NWCG standards as a Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2).
  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles and travel extensively throughout Colorado.
  • Previous wildland fire or fire service experience.
  • NWCG wildfire qualifications of Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1) or higher.
  • Medical certifications such as Wilderness First Responder or Emergency Medical Technician.
  • Paid sick leave accruing one hour for every thirty hours worked (capped at 48 hours).
  • Eligibility for paid overtime.
