About the position

The Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (CT) at the Fort Harrison VA Medical Center is responsible for independently performing complex diagnostic Computerized Axial Tomography scans and radiographic imaging procedures for both inpatients and outpatients under the supervision of a radiologist. This role involves operating imaging equipment, assisting during fluoroscopic procedures, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the imaging process.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CT examinations of various body parts including head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and extremities.
  • Execute complex CTA exams with advanced imaging techniques and reconstructions.
  • Apply radiation protection standards and troubleshoot equipment issues as needed.
  • Recognize and differentiate between normal and abnormal anatomy and pathology.
  • Manage patients effectively during diagnostic procedures, including critical care and trauma situations.
  • Perform basic first-aid and CPR as required during emergencies.
  • Schedule exams to optimize throughput while accommodating emergency cases.
  • Prepare and monitor patients for contrast materials used in imaging studies.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required to apply for this job.
  • Certification in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) is mandatory.
  • Advanced ARRT certification in computed tomography (CT) is required for this position.
  • Completion of a full-time training course in diagnostic radiologic technology, accredited by JRCERT or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a VA healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of advanced imaging techniques and protocols is beneficial.
