About the position

The Diagnostic Electrician at Freeport-McMoRan plays a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing electrical systems within the smelter facility. This position involves the removal, repair, and installation of electrical components, as well as advanced troubleshooting and systems/process optimization. The electrician will ensure safe completion of repairs and maintenance tasks while adhering to regulatory standards and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Removal, repair, and installation of electrical components and systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance on industrial electrical and instrumentation equipment.
• Conduct advanced troubleshooting and systems/process optimization.
• Mentor or train other electrical workers as needed.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory agency standards during installations and renovations.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and participate in safety and environmental activities.

Requirements

• Completion of an approved Certified Electronics, Electrical and/or Instrumentation Program, or a minimum of four years of experience in Industrial Electrical and/or Instrumentation repair and maintenance.
• Associate's degree or Trade School Certification in a related field and two years of experience in Industrial Electrical and/or Instrumentation repair and maintenance.
• Experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical circuits and connected equipment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Possession of minimum personal tools as described by the department tool list.

Nice-to-haves

• High School diploma or GED.
• Experience with VFDs, PLC, HMI, and/or SCADA Control Systems.
• Experience working with low and medium voltages.
• Experience with AC and/or DC controls.
• Experience with instrumentation devices.
• Experience with diagnostic electrical test equipment.
• Experience with HVAC equipment.
