About the position
The Diagnostic Imaging Tech - MRI position involves producing high-quality diagnostic images using Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment under general supervision. The role requires adherence to safety protocols, effective communication with patients, and the ability to operate various imaging technologies. The technician will also provide training to new staff and ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Produce diagnostic quality cross-sectional images of the human anatomy and vasculature using MRI equipment.
- Perform MR imaging protocols and operate hardware to maximize image quality.
- Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation.
- Document clinical activities accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain equipment, supplies, and work area according to department guidelines.
- Provide training and orientation to new MRI technologists.
- Ensure patient and staff safety by explaining safety protocols and removing hazardous objects.
- Critique images for diagnostic quality and consult with supervisors as needed.
- Comply with continuing education standards and departmental policies.
Requirements
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in radiologic technology, including one (1) year in MRI.
- Graduation from a JRCERT approved school of Radiologic Technology.
- Valid American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists Certificate or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
Nice-to-haves
- Minimum three (3) years of clinical experience as an MRI technologist in an acute care medical center.
- Computed Tomography experience.
- Advanced Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging issued by the ARRT (MR).
