About the position

The Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (Bone Densitometry) position at the Department of Veterans Affairs involves performing diagnostic radiography and bone density examinations to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The role requires independent operation of radiology equipment, scheduling patients, and ensuring the quality of imaging results. This position is critical in providing accurate diagnostic information to healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic radiography examinations of head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, spine, and extremities.
  • Conduct bone density examinations of the spine, extremities, and body.
  • Operate radiology equipment and determine technical factors for imaging procedures.
  • Set up the X-ray room and ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are present.
  • Confer with radiologists to determine requirements for non-standard exams.
  • Evaluate quality of measurements and recommend additional scans as necessary.
  • Archive results and maintain patient records.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Certification in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
  • Completion of a full-time training course in diagnostic radiologic technology, accredited by JRCERT or recognized by the Department of Education.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and prolonged standing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced ARRT certification in modalities such as CT or MRI.
  • Experience in a clinical setting performing radiologic procedures.
