About the position

The University of Vermont Health Network Radiology Department is seeking a Clinical Radiologist to provide care at its New York hospital campuses. The primary practice location will be at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, New York, with additional coverage at critical access hospitals in Malone, Elizabethtown, and Ticonderoga, New York. This role allows for a blend of general and subspecialty practice within a supportive and collegial work environment, emphasizing a healthy work/life balance. As a Clinical Radiologist, you will be part of a vibrant and developing Network Radiology Department that serves six hospitals, including a regional tertiary referral center in Burlington, VT. The position entails interpreting diagnostic radiology studies for both adult and pediatric patients across various modalities, including X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, basic nuclear medicine, fluoroscopy, and screening and diagnostic mammography. The ideal candidate will possess interventional skills to support ultrasound- and mammography-guided breast biopsies, although this is not a strict requirement. The imaging equipment utilized includes advanced technology such as a Philips Ingenia 1.5T MRI, Philips Brilliance 64 slice CT scanner, and Hologic Tomosynthesis unit with C-View. The IT infrastructure features state-of-the-art Visage PACS with Nuance Workflow Orchestration and PowerScribe, integrated with Epic EMR. The practice is designed to balance a variety of exam modalities and complexities throughout the workday, with a rotating schedule that includes both on-site weeks focusing on mammography and fluoroscopy, and off-site weeks from a home workstation emphasizing ultrasound, CT, and MRI. Candidates will be expected to manage after-hours radiology services through a third-party service, with rotating swing shifts covered by radiologists. Weekend shifts are optional and compensated separately. All radiologists are required to maintain their clinical duties while working remotely, and candidates must complete necessary licensure and documentation to practice teleradiology legally across state lines. For those interested, there are opportunities to practice up to 20% in a subspecialty area, either remotely or on-site at the UVMHN academic medical center. The academic practice includes a team of 36 full and part-time radiologists who serve as clinical faculty for a 24-member ACGME-approved diagnostic radiology residency program at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont. Teaching opportunities may also be available for those interested in engaging with residents and medical students during their rotations at CVPH. The Champlain Valley is known for its beautiful landscapes, rolling hills, and recreational opportunities, making it an ideal location for families. Plattsburgh, with a population of 38,000, offers a cost of living below the national average and excellent educational institutions.
