About the position

The Dialysis Technician at Rochester Regional Health is responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a dialysis setting. This role involves setting up and delivering dialysis treatments, monitoring patients, and ensuring their safety and comfort during procedures. The technician works closely with registered nurses and other healthcare professionals to support patients with chronic kidney disease, contributing to their overall health and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Set up and deliver dialysis treatment to patients.
• Cannulate fistula or graft and obtain blood samples and culture specimens.
• Calculate fluid removal based on nursing assessment and respond to treatment complications.
• Inspect and evaluate dialysis access site under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
• Monitor patient's vital signs during treatment and record observations in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
• Report patient status changes to the RN when appropriate and retrieve lab results when necessary.

Requirements

• Dialysis Technician National Certification required within 18 months of hire.
• 1 year of experience in patient care or as an EMT required.
• Strong computer skills and attention to detail.
• Exceptional communication skills and professional behavior.
• Compassionate, warm, and patient-focused demeanor.
• Decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
