About The Position

The Dialysis Technician II position at North County Kidney Center involves providing essential patient care in an outpatient dialysis setting. The role includes initiating and terminating dialysis treatments, performing phlebotomy, and maintaining accurate patient records while responding to patient needs. The technician will work closely with healthcare teams to monitor patient conditions and ensure high-quality care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
  • Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) or Certified Hemodialysis Practitioner/Technician (CHT) certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or other recognized bodies.

Responsibilities

  • Arranges and maintains equipment and supplies for dialysis procedures, including preparation of Dialysate solutions.
  • Performs cannulation, initiates, monitors, and discontinues dialysis treatment.
  • Observes and monitors patient vital signs and significant dialysis treatment parameters; assesses patient signs and symptoms and provides treatment accordingly.
  • Communicates pertinent patient information or changes in patient condition to the team leader; documents these results per unit's policies.
  • Transports, weighs, and assists patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, and chairs.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines and responds to patient concerns in a timely manner.
